As the flagship summer experience from the National Inventors Hall of Fame^® (NIHF), Camp Invention^® is our most popular STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) program. Thanks to our team of education experts, each year we are able to offer an all-new curriculum inspired by lessons and stories from our world-changing NIHF Inductees.

With this summer’s Elevate curriculum, students in kindergarten through sixth grade can expect an exciting lineup of activities that will allow them to flex their innovative muscles. Read below to learn more about what children can look forward to this summer at Camp Invention:

Camp Invention Flight Lab™

Children’s imaginations will soar as they explore the principles of flight using hand-copters, rockets, paper planes and gliders. By using upcycled materials, campers transform into pilots and build their very own cityscapes to maneuver their flying machines around. Plus, each child will take apart their own robot to explore how it works, and at the end of their time at camp, they’ll bring their robot home! By interacting with the science of flight in a hands-on way, children are more likely to make connections to science both at home and when they go back to school.

Design Thinking Project™

With the help of our inventor-informed Design Thinking Process, campers collaborate to generate new ideas, improve existing technology and solve real-world problems. Participants will learn that their ideas have value by transforming them into exciting new products. Throughout the week, your child will identify problems, sketch their solutions, construct prototypes, design their own logo, learn to protect their intellectual property and proudly pitch their big ideas.

Rescue Squad™

In Rescue Squad, children learn about environmental science in an accessible way by exploring a new ecosystem each day. By constructing prototypes that will help protect vulnerable habitats and experimenting with different ways to clean contaminated water, students will begin to develop an environmental mindset they can use in their daily lives. Each hands-on activity, from zip line races to parachute drops, will help campers move up the leaderboard on their way to becoming environmental heroes!

Camp Invention Champions™

By drawing inspiration from the great inventors behind their favorite sports, students are invited to invent their very own games and specialized equipment. Throughout the week, children can collect special inventor trading cards to assemble their own “Innovation Dream Team.” Then, participants design and build the ultimate sports complex, with customized features from game equipment to concession stands. Each child will take their sports complex home with them, so they can keep adding new features after their Camp Invention experience is over for the summer.
