A leading global manufacturer of engineered bearings and industrial motion products, Timken shares our dedication to STEM education. Read on to learn more about how Timken’s support makes an impact.
A Legacy of Innovation and Community
Driven by over 125 years of innovation, The Timken Company stands as a global leader in engineered bearings and technology powering industrial movement, offering a growing portfolio of solutions across diverse industries. This enduring success stems from a commitment to applying specialized expertise to create customer-centric solutions that enhance reliability and efficiency.
Throughout its history, Timken has not only prioritized continuous research and development to advance science and technology through sustainable solutions, but has also maintained a strong commitment to the communities where its employees live and work. As Shanna Ebert, the company’s principal community relations analyst, said, “Timken leaders have long understood that when you have a strong community behind your business, you have a strong business. When you visit Timken facilities, you understand immediately that Timken is an integral part of the community.”
Recognizing that access to STEM education is vital for strengthening communities and cultivating the next generation of innovators and problem solvers – particularly in fields crucial to Timken’s core business of engineering and innovation – the company actively supports initiatives that provide youth with exploratory concepts and hands-on learning experiences to spark curiosity and encourage research.
Cultivating Future Innovators
This commitment is powerfully demonstrated through Timken’s support for the National Inventors Hall of Fame, ensuring more children receive scholarships to attend Camp Invention®, the Hall of Fame’s nationwide K-6 STEM and invention education program. By providing access to this impactful program through The Timken Company Charitable and Educational Fund, Timken empowers young individuals, who might otherwise lack the opportunity, to engage in hands-on, project-based learning that cultivates essential creativity and problem-solving abilities.
Camp Invention offers a unique avenue for STEM exploration through immersive experiences inspired by the stories of Hall of Fame Inductees, including Timken’s own founder, Henry Timken. Presenting invention challenges modeled after these legendary figures not only introduces youth to creators and innovators as role models but also fosters the same innovative mindset that empowered these visionaries to change the world through hands-on engagement. Participants gain firsthand experience in developing creative solutions to real-world problems, building prototypes and even understanding intellectual property. These immersive experiences encourage participants to envision future STEM careers and develop the very skills they need to explore, create and innovate.
Thank You, Timken
