This summer, boost your child’s confidence at Camp Invention^®, a hands-on experience that introduces STEAM concepts with real-world applications to motivate the next generation of innovators.

Inspired by National Inventors Hall of Fame^® Inductees, this summer’s brand-new Camp Invention program, Discover, introduces campers to exciting stories of innovations and the STEAM careers behind them in four never-before-seen exploratory learning experiences.

Environmental Scientist

Calling all nature lovers! In Penguin Launch^™, campers embark on an eco-expedition in chilly Antarctica that will change the way they view the ecosystem and our responsibilities to protect it. In this hands-on STEAM experience, campers investigate polymer snow, navigate through penguin colonies and use magnets to lift and move iron filings representing microplastic pollution. As campers learn more about what environmental challenges their adorable penguin pals face, they’ll apply everything from physics to robotics and biomimicry to solve real-world problems and advocate for the planet.

Animator

In Illusion Workshop^™, campers explore behind-the-scenes STEAM careers that use technology to immerse the senses and imagination. Applying physics, design and electrical engineering skills, campers become optical illusion experts while discovering a variety of roles connected to the next wave of crafting innovative entertainment experiences. National Inventors Hall of Fame Inductee and Disney Imagineer Lanny Smoot guides children to discover the mesmerizing world of optical illusions and special effects in their favorite art, movies, theater and animation. From pneumatic props to tech tricks used in theme parks, animated films and theater, campers will explore physics concepts like centripetal force and even design their own Spin-o-scope^™ to create animations.

Entrepreneur

In Claw Arcade^™, kids unleash their creativity as they build their own cardboard claw machine to win fun prizes with friends! Finding inspiration from claws in nature, they’ll practice persistence as they gain hands-on experience with functional design and explore physics in easy-to-reach ways. After constructing their own cardboard claw machine, campers discover the power of intellectual property to take their arcade experiences to market — grabbing the world by surprise with their innovative ideas! As they embrace entrepreneurship, they’ll craft marketing materials, pitch their arcade ideas to hook investors and pursue a trademark-worthy logo to secure a licensing deal.

Electrical Engineer

In Control^™ challenges campers to showcase their agility as they invent their way around every bump and twist in the road. As campers build confidence and overcome obstacles on their innovative journey, they explore exciting STEAM concepts like the science of circuitry. This hands-on experience empowers campers to learn foundational skills in electrical engineering as they assemble their own custom control panel and practice wiring a circuit with a transmitter and receiver. As they learn about using artificial intelligence (AI) to complete tasks and assist on road trips, they’ll explore the everyday use of AI in GPS and more. They’ll even learn to decode secret messages using Morse code clues!
